Here's what I started with. A shiny speckled brown finish that was cramping the coffee table's style.
After stripping the top with Mot's Lift Off and sanding it down with an electric sander, I stained it with two coats of Minwax Dark Walnut. The bottom of the table was hand-sanded with 80-grit sandpaper and painted with two coats of Sherwin Williams paint in Destiny (a corny sounding name for paint, but who cares when it's free!). It's a light grey that has the tiniest bit of magenta in it. And I lied a little, the table isn't completely done. I still need to add a few coats of Wipe On Poly, but that shouldn't take long!
It's a new look for me and I really like it. The beautiful wood is exposed and the grey provides a nice contrast. Can't wait to have it join my other items at Grace Hart & Co. If you're curious, this is what the store looks like on the outside. It's located on a great street with other antique and vintage clothing stores.
Poppa and I went there this morning to drop off my furniture and I'm now officially in their system! I can bring new items in whenever I want. I'll be going there this weekend and will take pictures of the inside to share with you all. Thanks to my mom, dad, and brother for allowing me store and work on my furniture in their homes. Without help from both my families, this day wouldn't have been possible. THANK YOU ALL!

That is some neat eye-candy going on there! I'm sure I could come home with some goodies--love to stop/shop at these exciting places when you can see the "possibilities" right outside the store. Have a great weekend. Patty
